It is time for you to visit Perry County, and your first stop must be Linden.
Important Community Service Announcement from the Mayor
October 23, 2020
As of now, Perry County has the highest rate of positive COVID-19 cases in the State of Tennessee, and ranks 39 over all in the nation. As citizens of our great county, we have a responsibility to come together at this crucial moment and stop the spread of this virus.
Many of us who were vigilant in the beginning have let our guard down in the past few months. We have been guilty of seeing this as a “city problem” that can’t affect us country folk. That could not be further from the truth. The sad fact is that the death rate in rural Tennessee is 2x higher than that of our urban populations. We must continue to work together to keep families and our communities safe.
We want our children to continue to benefit from in person learning. We want our small businesses to thrive, and we want our families to stay safe. For that to happen, we must fight this battle as diligently as we did in the beginning of the pandemic. Wash your hands, stay six feet apart, stay home if you are sick or feel ill, or have been exposed to someone who has contracted COVID, and wear a mask in public areas.
These are small undertakings, but they can have a huge impact on the health and safety of Perry County if we do these things together. I am confident that we can make that happen, as we always have in the past.
